Trips to Germany

I have friends who live in the south of Germany and have a selection of classic cars. In a village near them called Kisslegg they had an annual classic car gathering. The main street of the village is closed and all sorts of vehicles arrive and park there. A rather long welcome in the town hall for all the crews and later in the afternoon all the cars set off for a tour around the locality.

This appealed for a number of the 'Occasionals' so we eventually organised three trips out there although one wasn't to the Kisslegg event but did include a smaller car event.

Each trip involved a drive of two or three days across France, sometimes into Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Austria before arriving at our base near Kempten. The trip back usually involved going north through Germany and Belgium to get back to the ferry. Of course we visited various places of interest on the way usually stopping at the old Rheims grand prix track and on the way home the Nurburgring and Spa circuits.

Whilst staying in Germany as well as visiting the car event we had days out touring around visiting the Jochpass which has been the site of an annual hillclimb for many years (once known as the Hitler Hill Climb), Neuwanstein castle and once getting stuck on an Austrian motorway because of a climate protest!
